Delta Decides

With the general elections fast approaching, the people of Ika South are rallying behind Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh, expressing their determination to vote for her and fiercely defend their mandate at the polls.

Correspondents gathered that despite ongoing campaigns by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hon. Cordelia Anyangwu, is facing stiff resistance from the people of Ika.

Mr. Ikechukwu Ifeanyi, a resident of Agbor-Obi, told our reporter that Mrs. Tony-Obuh remains the definitive choice for the people of Agbor.

He alleged that Hon. Anyangwu was an imposition, claiming that all other aspirants who purchased APC nomination forms for the Ika South primary election were disqualified to pave the way for her candidacy.

Reports also indicate that even in Abavo, the community Hon. Anyangwu, claims as her home, the elders have rejected her bid.

Sharing similar sentiments, Mr. Uche Jombo from Ekwuoma stated that Hon. Anyangwu has nothing to show in terms of community development.

He contrasted this with Mrs. Tony-Obuh’s track record, recalling a time when the community suffered from fallen electricity poles.

According to him, Mrs. Tony-Obuh personally raised funds to erect new poles and restore electricity, while Hon. Anyangwu failed to offer assistance.

Mr. Jombo further asserted that Hon. Anyangwu’s tenure at the Delta State Oil-Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) yielded no tangible benefits for the people of Abavo or Agbor at large.

Echoing these concerns, Mr. Martins Ewere from Alisimie argued that Hon. Anyangwu was unfit to run for elected office.

“Hon. Cordelia Anyangwu should not contest the election, even in the first place,” he stated, pointing to a barrage of allegations surrounding her candidacy.

Mr. Ewere also claimed that during her time as chairperson of the House of Assembly Service Commission, no notable projects were brought to the Ika South Constituency.

“If Nigeria was the way it should be, why would people like Cordelia Anyangwu contest this election in the first place?” he added.
