There are strong indications that the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, may not have submitted any educational certificates to the electoral umpire.

According to records released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the section designated for Akpowowo’s academic qualifications was left blank, implying that no certificates were provided.

This revelation has sparked confusion and concern among Deltans, raising questions about whether the lawmaker holds any formal educational qualifications.

Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo is currently seeking re-election to represent the Ethiope East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly.

INEC recently published the official candidate lists for the House of Assembly elections across various political parties, which included candidates’ personal details and submitted educational credentials.

Sources reveal that the political race in Ethiope East is becoming fiercely contested.

Akpowowo faces strong competition from Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Mercy Eguriase Sule, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

A survey conducted by Delta Decides indicates that Chief Sule is giving the incumbent Deputy Speaker a tough battle ahead of the polls.

Furthermore, reports suggest that constituents in Ethiope East were increasingly dissatisfied with Akpowowo’s representation, citing neglect and abandonment of the area during his tenure.
