Mr. Chiedu Ebie, Chairman, Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has felicitated media mogul and Chairman of THISDAY/Arise Media Group, *Prince Nduka Obaigbena*, on the occasion of his 67th birthday, describing him as a towering figure, role model and mentor whose contributions have shaped Nigeria’s media and democratic space.
In a birthday message issued today, July 14th, Ebie hailed Obaigbena as “a quintessential journalist, patriot and global brand ambassador for Nigeria” whose courage, innovation and commitment to free speech have left an indelible mark on the nation.

The NDDC boss noted that Obaigbena’s daring investments in broadcast and print media, even in challenging times, reflect the spirit of enterprise and resilience that Nigeria needs to drive development. He prayed for God’s continued strength, wisdom and good health for the media icon.
Chiedu Ebie Esq further described Obaigbena as a nation-builder, role model and mentor to a generation of journalists who now lead newsrooms across the country and beyond.

Born on July14th, 1959, Prince Obaigbena founded THISDAY Newspaper in 1995 and later pioneered 24-hour news broadcasting with ARISE News Channel, which has become a reference point for global coverage of African affairs.
