Economic activity in Ika North East Local Government Area has picked up significantly following the construction of Upper Efizomor Street, located near the Ebu-Owa Market, by the Local Government Chairman Hon. Monday Odigwe.
A field report from Agbor highlights how the newly rehabilitated road has resolved long-standing traffic bottlenecks that previously plagued the area.
Local traders and residents have widely commended Hon. Monday Odigwe for prioritizing the project to revive local commerce.
Speaking on the initiative, an aide to the chairman, Mr. Justice explained that the council acted to alleviate commuter hardship caused by the deplorable road.
“The chairman hates seeing people suffer deprivation,” Justice stated.
He noted that the previously deplorable road hindered trade, particularly for rural farmers transporting produce to the market.
Mr. Justice emphasized that the council’s intervention has expanded route options for commuters, ensuring smoother access to the market hub.
A resident, Mr. Obuseh Hope, corroborated this, noting that commuters can now easily bypass congested areas by taking Kingsley Street through Upper Efizomor directly to the market.
Another local resident, Mr. Mathew Osuho, pointed to an immediate economic boost following the completion of the project, describing Hon. Monday Odigwe, as a true leader of foresight and distinction.
“We are very happy with this construction; it has truly helped us,” Osuho said. “It has improved local trade flow, eased traffic congestion, and reduced road accidents.”
