Delta Decides

AGBOR — A prominent political analyst and public communicator, Mr. Isimah Madu, has declared that the Abavo community will thrive only when it frees itself from the influence of political godfatherism.

Speaking on the political landscape of Ika South, Mr. Isimah noted that godfatherism has significantly hindered development in Abavo.

He emphasized that the community can only make meaningful progress if voters support candidates who are independent and unencumbered by political godfathers.

Reflecting on past opportunities, he pointed out that Abavo’s representation in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) was largely wasted due to godfatherism.

“It is on record that we had a DESOPADEC Commissioner, yet there is no record of any tangible achievement to show for it,” Isimah stated.

He further observed that even when a representative from the community served as Chairperson of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, the position yielded no substantial benefits or achievements for the people.

Mr. Isimah expressed concern over how Abavo’s oil-producing status has failed to benefit its citizens.

He alleged that key benefits accruing to the community were compromised within the DESOPADEC Act, even while a daughter of Abavo served as a commissioner.

“This is precisely our point: a community that produces oil was effectively excluded through a restrictive clause in the law,” he explained.

Calling for a shift in approach, Mr. Isimah urged the electorate to think outside the box and vote for Mrs Ogor Tony-Obuh for the Ika South House of Assembly Constituency
