The people of Ika South Constituency have expressed great delight over the candidacy of Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh for the 2027 Delta State House of Assembly election.
Speaking with our reporter, Mr. Nkemchor Vincent, an indigene of Ekuku-Agbor, stated that Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh is the best candidate to represent the Ika South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly come 2027.
He emphasized that her candidacy, under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), signals the end of godfatherism in the constituency.
Mr. Vincent noted that godfatherism has long been a major impediment to the growth and development of Ika South.
Corroborating Mr. Vincent’s position, Mr. Arimokwu Isimah stressed that Mrs. Tony-Obuh possesses the leadership qualities and preparation needed to deliver meaningful development to the constituency.
Reports from Abavo also indicate an overwhelming acceptance of Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh among residents, who maintained that the lack of progress in Abavo was largely due to the influence of godfatherism.
Highlighting the impact of poor leadership on local infrastructure, Mr. Ewere Isibor pointed out the neglected state of Oyoko Market, once one of the prominent commercial hubs in Delta State.
He lamented that the market, which previously attracted traders and buyers from across various states, has now been overgrown by weeds.
“We cannot continue like this,” Isibor said. “This is why we need a candidate who is not tied to any godfather. Abavo will shine without godfatherism.”
