ETHIOPE EAST – Chief Dr. Mercy Eguriase Sule, a prominent aspirant for the Ethiope East House of Assembly seat, has officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing a breakdown in internal democracy.

The move, which has sparked significant discussion across Delta State’s political circles, follows what Dr. Sule describes as “deep-seated internal turmoil” and a departure from the party’s founding principles.

In a statement released through her media team, the CEO of Bemys Foundation and renowned humanitarian did not mince words regarding the current state of the ADC.

She alleged that the party has been “hijacked” by interests that prioritize infighting over community progress.

“It is impossible to thrive in a political environment where leadership tussles take center stage,” Dr. Sule stated. “To enthrone genuine leadership for the people, the platform itself must first embody a transparent, democratic process.”

While her resignation leaves a temporary vacuum in her campaign strategy, Dr. Sule emphasized that her commitment to representing Ethiope East remains firm.

She hinted that her next political move would be guided by a search for a platform that aligns with her personal ideology and the “aspirations of the people.”

Chief Mercy noted that a new political home will be announced only after high-level meetings are concluded.

She urged her supporters across Delta State to remain calm and steadfast during this transition.

“I am pleased to inform my supporters and the general public of my resignation from the ADC,” she concluded. “My new party affiliation will be made public once my consultations are complete.”

As Delta Decides begins the political searchlight on the happenings, Members of the public are looking at Dr. Sule who is one of the leading vocal female voices as she prepares to launch the next chapter of her legislative bid.
