Marilyn Okowa Daramola is the First female youth to represent the good people of Ika North East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly and she is the Chairman of the house committee on finance and appropriation.
Her countenance is filled with a powerful aura that desires positive changes in society. She is always yearning to share her unique perspectives and create new experiences in the affairs of governance. Her passions are deep rooted in a desire to give a meaningful representation to her constituents and other young people.
One of the greatest strengths of Marilyn Daramola Okowa is the propensity to connect with young people.
As a young woman, she can relate effectively with the challenges that young people face; This is an advantage she possesses over other legislators who are much older than her.
She has become a role model for young girls and women who want to hold leadership positions in society due to her constant commitment to solving important issues without engaging in counterproductive attitudes. No matter how young they are or where they are from, they may realize their ambitions thanks to her position as the head of the house committee on finance and appropriation.
Another strength of Daramola as a female youth legislator is her propensity to diversity of ideas and inclusion of relevant issues which affect “everyday people’. in the discourse of government.
As a Young Female legislator, her presence at the house and her house committee Chairmanship on finance and appropriation is also symbolic to feminists and Youths as a ceiling wall that has been broken for them to aspire and achieve relevance in politics
Being the Chairman of the house committee on Finance and Appropriations, she will play a crucial role in the legislative process of Delta State of Nigeria. This is so, considering that one of her primary mandates is to create and oversee the state budget with a view to reviewing spending proposals, make recommendations, as well as allocate funds to various government programs and agencies.
She has a significant say in tax policy, she can draft, amend, and recommend tax legislation, affecting everything from income tax rates to corporate tax loopholes.
The Chairman can convene hearings and investigations into economic issues in order to examine the economy’s health, monetary policy, and financial rules due to her participation in finance.
As the chairman of finance and appropriation, Marilyn Daramola Okowa has the authority to approve or reject funding requests from government agencies. This power allows her to influence the functioning of these agencies and ensure they are using taxpayer funds efficiently.
