Former Deputy President of the 9th Senate and candidate for Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has raised an alarm regarding alleged threats to his life and the safety of his family.
In a press statement issued at the commencement of his campaign tour in Uvwie Local Government Area, Omo-Agege alleged that the threats originated from the Delta State Government House in Asaba.
Omo-Agege formally called on the Nigerian public, civil society organizations, media entities, security agencies, and the international community to take notice of the development as he continues his campaign across the eight local government areas of the senatorial district.
The lawmaker stated that should any harm come to him or any member of his family, the public and the Urhobo people of Delta Central should hold the Governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, directly accountable.
As of the time of reporting, representatives for the Delta State Government and Governor Oborevwori have not issued a formal response to the allegations.
