The campaign of Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh, the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Ika South Constituency, has achieved another significant milestone.
Amid growing concern among her political opponents, the Supreme Council of Great Men (SCGM) Ika South has formally thrown its weight behind her candidacy for the Delta State House of Assembly come 2027
The endorsement was finalized during the group’s recent enlarged meeting in Abavo, where members unanimously resolved to support Mrs. Tony-Obuh ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Anthony Onyema highlighted her selfless service to humanity, specifically citing her donation to the restoration of electricity to the Abavo community as a clear sign of proactive leadership.
“The people of Abavo have resolved to support her political ambition in 2027,” Onyema stated. “Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh possesses the requisite qualities of a good leader. Her decision to donate the restoration of electricity in Abavo—even without holding public office—demonstrates how much more she will accomplish when elected.”
Another member of the council, Mr. Etunim Ifeanyi, emphasized the importance of evaluating candidates based on their track record before making a choice at the ballot box.
“It is an honor to endorse Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh for the Delta State House of Assembly, Ika South Constituency,” Ifeanyi said. “True leadership is selfless, as shown by her intervention to ensure Abavo was not left in darkness.”
Ifeanyi urged voters to scrutinize other candidates, noting that community service was one of the prerequisites before offering them support.
He questioned the track record of rival candidates, noting that voters should demand accountability regarding past roles in governance and public commissions.
“We are proudly endorsing Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh in appreciation of her dedication to our community, and we are actively mobilizing our people to support her,” he added.
Reports also indicate that Mrs. Tony-Obuh’s history of community development spans over a decade, including the donation of a borehole to the people of Oki 14 years ago while serving as a public servant.
