Pan African Forum, Youth Group Back Dr. Olara Otunnu for UN Secretary-General

ASABA — The Pan African Forum Ltd and Global Afrikan Youth Inclusion have jointly called on African Union member states to endorse Dr. Olara Otunnu for the position of United Nations Secretary-General ahead of the conclusion of António Guterres’ term in December 2026.

In a briefing with DELTA DECIDES international correspondents, Pan African Forum founder Dr. David Matsanga described Dr. Otunnu as a seasoned diplomat whose previous leadership roles—including UN Under-Secretary-General, President of the Security Council, and Vice-President of the General Assembly—demonstrate his capacity to guide the international organization.

Amb. Ushi Israel, Executive Director of Global Afrikan Youth Inclusion, confirmed that his organization has resolved to lobby AU member States on Dr. Otunnu’s behalf.

He noted that the former Ugandan Permanent Representative to the UN possesses the experience needed to champion human rights, bolster the efficacy of UN Initiatives, and drive grassroots-focused policies globally.

“ I am urging all African Union Members State to support Dr. Otunnu.” He added
