Basil Okoh
Every new day, annoying facts are revealed to make Dr Okowa unelectable to represent Delta North in the Senate. If you laugh at his juvenile ploy to temporarily run from justice at EFCC, you will not laugh at his growing family of power seekers.
Barrister Martins Okonta, erstwhile Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly keeps announcing for the world to hear in every public forum that Ms. Cordelia Anyangwu, APC candidate for House of Assembly in Ika-South, is the mistress or second wife of Ifeanyi Okowa and that’s why she was shoed-in as the consensus candidate for House of Assembly for APC in Ika-South. He makes the public statement everywhere all the time and has not been challenged by Okowa, Cordelia or their loud surrogates.
He insists he’s not making allegations but stating facts and staking his reputation as a lawyer. He says he has confronted Ms. Cordelia on the matter and she could not deny consorting with Okowa.
Cordelia was appointed into the board of DESOPADEC by Dr. Okowa just before he left office in 2023 as governor of Delta state and she has been named as one of the alleged conduits in the loss of a substantial part of the missing N1.3 trillion in DESOPADEC which has defied accounting.
Ms. Cordelia Anyangwu’s nomination as APC House of Assembly candidate for Ika-South was super-imposed and directed by Ifeanyi Okowa himself, just as he did for his daughter in Ika North-East and no one could challenge him as leader of APC in Delta North. So Okowa will have four persons vying for elective offices in APC from his homestead:
1. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa – Senate, Delta North.
2. Mrs. Marylin Okowa-Daramola, (daughter) House of Assembly, Ika North-East.
3. Emmanuel Osazuwa – (Inlaw) House of Representatives, Ika Federal Constituency.
4. Ms. Cordelia Anyangwu (Mistress) House of Assembly, Ika-South.
Ifeanyi Okowa is alleged to be trying to slam-dunk his protégé through the NDC as House of Assembly candidate for Ika-South, to hedge his bet on Cordelia and block the expected surge from NDC. A certain Professor Destiny Oriehi Anyaiwe has been enlisted for the yeoman’s job.
Anyaiwe’s sponsors keep spending big to turn the results of the NDC primary election in Ika-South which he lost to Mrs Ogor Tony-Obuh. Anyaiwe has not rested since his loss. He has tried three times to do a criminal name switch at NDC offices in Asaba and Abuja, to remove Mrs Ogor Tony-Obuh’s name from the ballot and replace it with his own, but has not succeeded.
Even if his plots in NDC appear to have failed on Mrs Tony-Obuh, Okowa is not without a consolation prize in the NDC in Ika South. Suspicions are rife that there is still a candidate in Ika Constituency in NDC who is from Okowa’s stable. And then the stable keeps expanding.
