AGBOR — In a definitive move that reshapes the political landscape of Ika South local government area, Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh has officially picked up the nomination form under the banner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest the Delta State House of Assembly seat come 2027 general elections.
Mrs. Tony-Obuh is the wife of the late Tony Obuh, a highly revered top-tier governorship aspirant in the 2015 Delta State gubernatorial race.
By entering the legislative contest, she seeks to build upon and expand her late husband’s enduring political legacy of service, community development, and grassroots empowerment.
An accountant by training and a seasoned, retired public servant, Mrs. Tony-Obuh brings a wealth of administrative expertise and financial prudence to the political arena.
Speaking with journalists at her Agbor residence shortly after submitting her form, she expressed absolute readiness to offer “robust, transparent, and people-centered representation” to the constituents of Ika South.
”Our people deserve a legislative approach that is active, inclusive, and directly responsive to their needs,” she stated.
“If given the mandate, I will run a strict open-door policy where the voices of the grassroots are not just heard, but effectively acted upon in the hallowed chambers.”
Mrs. Tony-Obuh further emphasized that her candidacy is rooted in a vision to reposition Ika South into its rightful place of developmental prominence within Delta State.
She promised a paradigm shift in legislative engagement, focusing on strategic human capital development, infrastructural advocacy, and impactful bills aimed at elevating the socioeconomic status of her people.
With her formal entry into the race under the NDC, political analysts observe that the Ika South legislative contest is set to gain significant momentum, driven by her formidable professional background and deep-rooted political heritage.
