Fuel Explosion In Delta Claims Five Lives, Damages Bank Buildings, Other Structures

About five persons have been reportedly dead following fuel tanker explosion on Sunday afternoon in Agbor, Delta State of Nigeria

The incident occurred along the old Lagos-Asaba Road, in front of First Bank after Access Bank, when the fuel tanker carrying petrol, lost control.

It was also noted that about five persons were reportedly killed by the explosion

An eyewitness who told our reporters about what happened noted that no fewer than five people were killed in the explosion, while the police command confirmed the death of two.

Mr. Ngozi, who also spoke with our reporters, revealed that the fire spread rapidly to the fire service office, engulfing the tanker and nearby buildings.

It was gathered that the fire was so intense that people were running in all directions, an eyewitness hinted

The explosion caused significant damage to structures in the area, including First and Access banks.

Residents, caught in the devastating inferno, were seen scrambling for safety in viral videos, as the tanker and nearby structures were consumed by the fire.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressed deep sorrow, saying four persons were killed while three others sustained injuries.

The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Festus Ahon, described the incident as disturbing just as he extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, while praying for speedy recovery of the injured.

“It is with a heavy heart that I commiserate with the people of Ika South Local Government and the affected families.”

“This tragic incident is deeply saddening. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones at this difficult time,” the statement read.
