The All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward 11 Chairman, Comrade John Kabadi, has described Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri, the APC leader in Ward 11, Umunede, Ika North East Local Government Area, as a man of capacity, competence, and proven leadership qualities.
Kabadi made the declaration during an interview with newsmen on Sunday, September 6, 2026, when the APC leadership and members in the local government area gathered in Umunede for a mega empowerment program.
The program was powered by the Ika North East Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Monday Hunkamma Odigwe, through the councillors representing Umunede, Hon. Chioma Anabel Ebundor (DSIEC Ward 16) and Hon. Aniye Lucky Ukpeghoro (DSIEC Ward 20), as part of efforts to empower people at the grassroots.
The event was attended by the APC leadership in the LGA, ably led by the paramount leader of the party, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, alongside the LGA party Chairman, Comrade Emeke Asiwe, popularly known as the “Civilian General,” among party leaders, stakeholders, ward delegates, and support groups.
Speaking on Elekeokwuri, Kabadi said his description of the former lawmaker was based on his capacity, experience, and contributions to the political development of the area.
Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri, who is the APC leader in Ward 11, Umunede, is a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, where he represented the good people of Ika North East Local Government Area. He is presently the Director-General of the Delta State Investment Development Agency (DIDA).
Kabadi said Elekeokwuri’s experience in public service, coupled with his grassroots political engagement, had continued to distinguish him as a leader with the capacity to contribute meaningfully to the development of his people.
He further declared that Elekeokwuri had played a significant role in fostering political unity within Ward 11, describing him as a man whose efforts and leadership were deserving of appreciation for bringing members of the APC together in the ward.
According to Kabadi, Elekeokwuri had continued to unite the people of Umunede and mobilise them to speak with one voice in support of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the growing unity within Ward 11 was a reflection of Elekeokwuri’s political maturity and commitment to the party, adding that his efforts had helped to strengthen the APC at the grassroots.
The Ward 11 chairman also used the opportunity to appreciate the APC leadership in Ika North East for choosing another son of Umunede, Engr. Jackson Teddy Ngwokor, as the party’s candidate to represent the newly created Ika North East Constituency II in the Delta State House of Assembly.
Kabadi described the choice of Ngwokor as a favour and gesture that the people of Umunede would not take for granted, assuring that the community would demonstrate its appreciation through massive support for the APC at the polls.
He called on the people of Umunede to reciprocate the gesture by voting massively for all APC candidates, from the presidential candidate to the senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly candidates, respectively.
Kabadi said such support would demonstrate the people’s appreciation for the confidence reposed in Umunede and its people by the APC leadership, particularly through the choice of Jackson Ngwokor to represent Ika North East Constituency II.
He also commended the APC leadership and Hon. Monday Hunkamma Odigwe for the mega empowerment program, describing it as a laudable initiative aimed at improving the welfare of the people and strengthening grassroots participation.
He said the empowerment program had further demonstrated the commitment of the party and the council administration to put smiles on the faces of residents and create opportunities for the people at the grassroots.
