AGBOR — The Coalition of Delta North Youths has issued a stern warning to political parties regarding the senatorial ambition of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, asserting that the region is “not a personal estate.”
During a press conference held on April 17, 2026, in Agbor, Ika South LGA, youth leaders voiced a total rejection of any platform that offers a ticket to the former governor.
The coalition characterized his eight-year tenure as a period of “leadership deficiency” and “cannibalized” governance.
Barr. Benjamin Ofochi who was the spokesperson of the coalition pointed to the alleged diversion of ₦1.3 trillion, arguing that these funds could have revitalized Delta’s infrastructure and healthcare system.
They insisted these allegations must be cleared before any further political aspirations are considered.
Barrister Benjamin Ofochi and Chief Kayinebi Onyewemadu Kingsley who doubled as the VP of the Movement for the Emancipation of Anioma Nation, noted that under Okowa’s watch, hospitals were not only physically decayed but lacked essential medical personnel.
They group criticized the “family business” approach to politics, citing that while Okowa eyes the Senate, his daughter, Marilyn Daramola Okowa, is also seeking a return to the State House of Assembly.
While making their emphasis, they dismissed a viral video suggesting a “popular call” for Okowa to run, labeling it as staged and false.
The coalition specifically called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Executive Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to shut their doors against the former governor.
”We are not a conquered people. If Senator Okowa forgot anything in the Senate during his first four-year stint, we suggest they ‘waybill’ it to him rather than returning him to office.”
Chief Kayinebi Onyewemadu Kingsley emphasized that the collective future of Delta North cannot be sacrificed for the interests of one family.
”That ₦1.3 trillion would have been enough to equip our hospitals, create jobs, and provide constant electricity,” Oscar stated. “We are saying clearly: Delta North is not a personal estate or a family enterprise.”
