In its place is a new operating model anchored on planning, partnership, and performance. Through the adoption of a corporate governance framework developed in collaboration with KPMG, the NDDC now tracks projects from conception to completion, publishes milestones, and insists on community ownership. The result is a Commission that is regaining public trust and delivering infrastructure that directly improves livelihoods.
Across the region, the evidence is becoming harder to ignore. Arterial and rural roads are being prioritized to connect farms to markets and reduce the cost of transportation. Rural electrification projects and solar-powered solutions are bringing light to communities that have been off the grid for years. Water supply schemes and irrigation facilities are supporting agriculture and fisheries. Youth skills training, vocational programs, and foreign scholarships are equipping a new generation with the tools to compete nationally and globally. These are not isolated gestures. They are coordinated expressions of the Renewed Hope Agenda, implemented at the regional level by the NDDC and aligned with state development plans to avoid duplication.
For the APC, this matters deeply because politics in the Niger Delta has always responded to what people can see and touch. When a road is completed in Ughelli North and travel time is cut in half, when a water scheme is commissioned in a riverine community in Burutu, when a young graduate returns from a skills program abroad and starts a business in Warri South, the argument that government is working becomes self-evident. Mr. Ebie understands this equation and has consistently framed NDDC delivery as the regional proof of President Tinubu’s national vision. That alignment gives the party a coherent and defensible message for 2027: continuity at the center and continuity in the state will guarantee that the momentum continues.
Beyond infrastructure, the Board has prioritized unity as a political and development strategy. The historical weakness of the APC in the Niger Delta has not been ideas but fragmentation. To address this, the NDDC has opened its doors to broad stakeholder engagement, bringing together party leaders, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, women groups, and youth leaders across the 9 states. The message in those engagements is consistent and strategic: the Niger Delta gets more federal attention, more projects, and more investments when it speaks and negotiates as a bloc. That message is resonating. Traditional institutions and community-based organizations have passed multiple votes of confidence in the current NDDC leadership, citing improved consultation, transparency, and a clear reduction in abandoned projects. That goodwill is political capital, and it is being organized at the ward and LGA levels in preparation for 2027.
Mr. Ebie’s role in the coming election cycle is two-fold and mutually reinforcing. At the national level, he is coordinating structures and narratives to ensure that the Niger Delta delivers a decisive vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election. The case being made to the electorate is straightforward and evidence-based. The Tinubu administration provided the NDDC with a substantive board for the first time in years, restored policy direction, and released support for legacy infrastructure that had stalled. Continuity at the center protects those gains and ensures that ongoing projects in roads, power, and the blue economy are completed.
At the state level, the alignment with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is equally important. Delta State’s MORE Agenda and the NDDC’s development framework are converging around the same priorities: infrastructure, human capital, and economic empowerment. That synergy has produced better coordination, reduced duplication, and faster delivery. For the people of Delta State, the prospect of having a governor and a president working from the same playbook is compelling. It means more federal-state projects, more jobs, and more stability.
The road to 2027 will not be decided in press statements or social media trends. It will be decided in the wards of Warri South, Ughelli North, Ethiope East, Burutu, and across all 25 LGAs of Delta State and the other 8 mandate states. Mr. Ebie’s advantage is that he is building his case on facts that communities experience daily. The NDDC is not promising what will be done after elections. It is showing what is being done now.
If the Commission maintains its current pace of delivery, and if the APC matches that discipline with grassroots organization, voter education, and stakeholder cohesion, the party will approach 2027 with the strongest campaign message possible: a record of service. In a region that has often been described as difficult terrain for the APC, that record is changing perceptions. By tying development to politics and politics to unity, Hon. Chiedu Ebie has put the Niger Delta firmly on course for victory in 2027 for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
