ETHIOPE EAST — As the race for the 2027 House of Assembly elections begins to take shape, Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Mercy Eguriase Sule, a leading aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared her readiness to unseat the incumbent, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, promising a new era of “impactful representation.”
Speaking during a consultative visit to Ethiope East Local Government Area last week, the diaspora ambassador and CEO of Bemys Foundation criticized the current legislative state of the constituency.
She noted that Ethiope East has long suffered from a “representative lack,” underscoring an urgent need for a leadership shift that prioritizes the welfare of all constituents.
“It is time for the people of Ethiope East to feel the true impact of legislative representation,” Sule stated. “We need a change that benefits everyone, not just a few.”
Resonating Chief Mercy message, Mrs. Tunde Omowumi, the ADC Woman Leader for Ward 9, described Sule as a “round peg in a round hole,” asserting that she remains the best candidate to champion the interests of the constituency.
Omowumi added that Sule is poised to set a legislative benchmark that future representatives will strive to emulate.
Furthering the call for change, Comrade Harrison Umukoro emphasized that effective legislation is the bedrock of community development.
He expressed confidence that the ADC is positioned to bring the necessary reforms to both the state and Nigeria
“This time, with Chief Dr. Mrs. Mercy Eguriase, we will get it right,” Umukoro remarked, noting that her candidacy provides the strong, vocal representation that the people of Ethiope East deserve.
As other Political Parties prepare to feed their candidates, the ADC appears to be consolidating its presence in the Ethiope East with Sule’s campaign focusing heavily on accountability and the delivery of democratic dividends.
