AGBOR— The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Ika South House of Assembly Constituency in the forthcoming election, Mrs. Ogor Tony-Obuh, has expressed deep condolences to the victims of the tragic tipper accident that occurred at the popular College Junction in Agbor, Delta State.
Confronted by the grim incident, the house of assembly hopeful strongly called on the Delta State Government to urgently strengthen its traffic management framework to prevent future occurrences.
Speaking during an interactive session with journalists in Agbor, Mrs. Tony-Obuh underscored the critical need for a more proactive government approach to mitigating road accidents, describing the rising frequency of such mishaps on local roads as deeply worrisome.
She emphasized that safeguarding lives requires a comprehensive review of state traffic laws with a specific focus on enforcing strict regulatory measures for heavy-duty and commercial vehicles.
“The rate of accidents on our roads has become genuinely alarming,” Tony-Obuh stated. “It is imperative that the state government strengthens existing traffic laws and implements stringent measures to control the operations of heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring they adhere to safety standards.”
While offering words of comfort, the Ika South House of Assembly candidate prayed for divine protection over Ikaland.
She wished those who sustained various degrees of injury a speedy and full recovery, while offering prayers of solace to families who lost their loved ones to the crash.
“I share deeply in your grief and pain,” she said, sealing her message of sympathy to the bereaved families. “May God grant them the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable losses, and may His comfort rest upon you all in this difficult time.”
