The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will not feel the impact of the exit of Senator Ned Nwoko from the party. This is the position of Comrade Ameachi Igumbor, the chairman of the party in Ika South Local Government Area. The party chieftain made this audacious observation in Alisimie, Agbor, when the local government executive of the party paid a ‘thank you visit’ to ward three(Ihu-Ozomor) on Wednesday.

” Let me be frank with you. The party will not miss the reported defection of Senator Ned Nwoko to another party. We have neither seen him nor felt his impact through empowerment and attraction of projects to our area since he became a senator. The funny thing is that we are hearing that the people he’s going to meet do not want him”, Comrade Igumbor said.

Continuing, the party chairman said the defection of the senator has helped to calm the nerves of unsuspecting and vulnerable PDP members, stressing that the party has more reasons to celebrate than to groan over the exit of the senator.

“Prior to the election of the senator, our members were burdened with assurances of empowerment by Ned Nwoko. Even when he became senator, he continued to request needy party members to fill forms and have their bio-data captured on the guise that there exist a programme to assist them financially. No person got anything from him. I am relieved and so are other party members that this man has finally left us.”

The party leader said people should be weary of politicians who make promises they cannot fulfill, adding that fraudulent people should remain in their phoney businesses rather than coming into politics with their trademark scam.

Comrade Igumbor assured members of the party that there are plans by the governor to expand the empowerment and appointments net, adding that loyal party members would be identified and rewarded.

On the abandoned projects that dot the local government area, the party chairman assured all that aside completing them, contracts for new projects are being awarded by the state government.

” Do not listen to the tales by some people. The state governor has assured us that the delay in some contractors returning to sites was due to unexpected soaring inflation. The process of reviewing costs of the various projects is almost completed. Once the processing is over, the contractors will resume work. Some of the contractors have actually returned to project sites. We are happy that Mariere Street is completed. Contracts for more road projects have been awarded. So far we are happy with the governor.”

In his remarks, Hon Godwin Ezedom, State Assistant Secretary of the party, charged political office holders in the party to fund party activities in their various wards, stressing that in spite of defections by some people, the PDP remains strong in Ika South Local Government Area.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Festus Ozabor, ward chairman; Engr. Noel Omodon, former commissioner of works; Mr. Emmanuel Osazuwa, Special Adviser to the governor; Comrade Jonathan Ojobu, Dame Caroline Agbi, Mr. James Aigbogun, Hon Williams Omoregie, Mr. Jonathan Onwuka, Chief Press Secretary to Ika South Council Chairman; Mr. Edwin Okoh, Chief Peter Mormah, Comrade Lucky Omoregie, Pastor Kelvin Aigui, Winifred Aya and of course Mr. Williams Eghebi, amongst others.

Hon Festus Chukwuyem Okoh and Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior were represented while Evelyn Ogbuigwe, Ika South Vice Chairman of the party was part of the executive members that accompanied Comrade Ameachi Igumbor.
