Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Delta North Senatorial District have committed to fostering greater unity within the party to secure victory in the 2027 general elections. The resolution was made during a crucial meeting held in Asaba, attended by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, and other prominent figures.

The gathering, co-hosted by Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, and the Delta North APC Chairman, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, saw leaders emphasize the importance of a unified front. They highlighted that the district’s influence within the state stems from its ability to speak with a singular voice through its electoral outcomes.

A key decision from the meeting was the agreement to hold future party meetings in open, accessible venues to encourage free expression among members. The leaders also extended their gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme for their efforts in promoting harmony within the APC ranks.

A strong emphasis was placed on curbing divisive tendencies, negative publicity, and factionalization within the party.

Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, who outlined the resolutions, stated, “We have agreed that we must work for the unity of our party, take the issue of opposition very seriously, and ensure leaders communicate government and party decisions effectively to the grassroots to avoid ambiguity.” He further added, “Party meetings should be held on neutral grounds, and we should discourage the notion of ‘old and new APC,’ advocating instead that the next state Chairman should emerge from Delta North Senatorial District.”

Onyeme also confirmed agreements to support local government chairmen for their success, replicate these leadership meetings at local government and ward levels, and intensify efforts to recruit new members, mobilize existing ones for registration, and translate registrations into votes.

Notable individuals who addressed the meeting included former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, Barrister Felix Morka, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, and Rt. Hon. Olisa Imegwu.

The meeting saw a broad attendance of party stalwarts, including Rt. Hon. Christopher Ochor, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, Chief Godwill Obielum, Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Pharm. Paul Enebeli, Barr. Sam Osasa, Chief Festus Ochonogor, Hon. Emeka Nwobi, Dr. Festus Okubor, Ide Tony Nwaka, Chief Moses Iduh, Ide Austin Izagbo, Chief Fidelis Tilije, and Chief Chris Agbobu, among others.
