EFFURUN, DELTA STATE – The Ovie of Uvwie Palace was a kaleidoscope of culture and high-level diplomacy on Saturday, February 14, 2026, as His Royal Majesty, Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso, Abe 1, JP, OON, presented his autobiography, Odyssey of Royalty: The Reign of Abe 1, to a distinguished audience of national leaders, traditional rulers, and citizens.
The event, which doubled as a celebration of the Monarch’s 83rd birthday and 18th year on the throne, drew a powerful delegation from the presidency and the National Assembly, highlighting the Ovie’s influence as a bridge-builder in Nigeria’s socio-political landscape.
In a keynote address marked by both wit and wisdom, the Ovie explained that the drive to write his life story was rooted in the need for historical authenticity. As he eloquently noted, until the lion tells his side of the story, the tale of the hunt will always glorify the hunter. This book is his attempt to document the truth of the era, recorded without prejudice, fear, or favor. The autobiography chronicles His Majesty’s 30-year career at the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company (The MINT) before his ascension to the throne—a transition he described as moving from private service to the sacred responsibility of the throne.
Reflecting on his 18-year reign, Abe 1 noted that his administration inherited almost a blank page in a tough terrain. However, through a road less traveled approach characterized by transparency and inclusivity, the kingdom has witnessed significant architectural milestones, including the completion of the multi-million naira Magnificent Palace, rapid economic growth, and the maintenance of relative peace despite national security challenges. The Monarch showered accolades on the people of Uvwie, describing them as the architects of this success, while also extending gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his infrastructural upgrades and continued support of education scholarship schemes.
Beyond the borders of his kingdom, the Ovie used the platform to address pressing national concerns. He commended the federal government’s efforts to reposition the economy but urged for a workable constitution that guarantees justice and fairness for all Nigerians. In a moment of candid observation that resonated with the audience, the Monarch lamented the skyrocketing cost of air travel, noting that the sky-high cost of flying now seems even scarier than skydiving. He earnestly appealed to domestic airlines to review airfares downward to facilitate national development and safety.
The Ovie concluded with a stirring message of hope, calling on traditional and religious leaders to partner with the government to uplift the masses. He urged Nigerians to remain strong and persevere, reminding the nation that every cloud has a silver lining and that it is always darkest just before the dawn.
