Skill Acquisition Drive: Delta TVEB Graduates Second Stream Trainees Amidst Trade Fair Exhibition

ASABA, Delta State – The Delta State Technical and Vocational Education Board (TVEB) celebrated the graduation of its second stream of 2025 trainees on December 10, 2025, at the Asaba Training Center. The ceremony was marked by a vibrant trade fair exhibition, showcasing the diverse skills acquired by the graduates.

The initiative forms part of the Delta State government’s strategic efforts to stimulate economic activity, create jobs, and reduce unemployment across the state. The graduation attracted notable personalities and saw students completing courses in various vocational fields.

During her goodwill message, Ms. Philo Epeana, TVEB Board Chairman, emphasized the critical importance of skill acquisition for survival and economic independence.

“Skill acquisition is the tool through which people can survive,” Ms. Epeana stated.

She commended the graduates for choosing to develop practical skills, subtly referencing the importance of legitimate income streams amidst the rise of internet fraud, prostitution, and other criminal activities.

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Stanley Eluemunor, Executive Secretary of TVEB, encouraged the graduands to continue pursuing self-development, noting that skill acquisition is a direct pathway to financial independence.

The graduating cohort comprised trainees from various vocational disciplines offered across multiple centers in the state, including:Fashion Design, Hair Dressing, Barbing, Bead Making, Electrical Wiring, Computer Repairs, Catering, Perfume Production, Washing Soap Production, Air Freshener Production amongst others

Mrs. Emmanuella Daniels, a former TVEB student and owner of the successful enterprise Nualla-Stitched, shared her journey, recounting how she enrolled at the age of 16 in 2016. She advised the graduates to take their newly acquired knowledge seriously, highlighting the potential of vocational skills as a profitable venture for building financial resilience.

Representing the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Mrs. Edheku Roseline emphasized the importance of business registration, noting that it ensures compliance with Nigerian law. She explained that registration secures business names, enables formal operation, and allows businesses to access government support programs.

Graduate testimonies reflected the value of the initiative. Ms. Nwabuisi Justina Ekene (Hair Dressing) described the program as “expository” and urged Nigerians to embrace skill acquisition, calling it a “daily meal ticket” with the potential to strengthen the nation.

Similarly, Ms. Omachuni Joan Ojoma, a graduate, who learnt bag making, expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the initiative, highlighting the insights she gained and the boost it provided to her product-making skills.

She encouraged other Deltans to participate in similar programs to help reduce unemployment and bolster the state economy.

Concluding the event, Mr. Fred Osadebe, Director of Administration, congratulated the graduands, urging them to continuously seek knowledge and leverage their new skills to create jobs, reduce unemployment, and further streng
