Oborevwori Pledges Support for Literary Excellence at Lagos Book Presentation

LAGOS, NIGERIA — Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has strongly reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering literary excellence, intellectual discourse, and the growth of knowledge-driven communities.

The commitment was made public on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the launch of the book Hallmarks of Labour by Izoma Philip Chikwuendo Asiodu, held at the Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Representing the Governor, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, stated that the Delta State government will continue to support initiatives that celebrate creativity, scholarship, and national development.

In his address, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the vital role literature plays in shaping societal values and inspiring future generations. He noted that Delta State is proud to align itself with platforms that honour outstanding contributions to nation-building through the power of the written word.

Prof. Tonukari delivered the Governor’s commendation to author Asiodu for his distinguished contribution to Nigerian literature, describing his work as a “testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and integrity.” He concluded by encouraging emerging writers to continue striving for excellence in their craft.

The event drew a gathering of eminent personalities and literary enthusiasts. Notably, former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd.), served as the chairman of the occasion.

Discussions during the ceremony centred on the book’s core themes, with speakers reflecting on the author’s emphasis on the virtues that define meaningful achievement and national progress.
