Comrade Darlington Okonma, Coordinator of DELTA DECIDES and Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ika Chapel, has starkly predicted that Mr. Peter Obi will face a more significant defeat in the 2027 Presidential election than he did in 2023.
Okonma, a prominent Delta-born journalist, asserted that Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, lacks the preparedness to lead Nigeria.
He argued that Obi has failed to adequately demonstrate the leadership prowess expected of a presidential aspirant.
“I am saying that Mr. Peter Obi would lose more than he lost in the last Presidential election in 2023,” Okonma reiterated, emphasizing his conviction.
He highlighted that Obi’s perceived strength in the South-South and South-East regions was fully reflected in his 2023 presidential election votes, suggesting that such strength from the regions were already eroded by the event of today
Comrade Okonma further contended that Obi missed a crucial opportunity to leverage his popularity to build a robust and formidable opposition. Such a move, he believes, would have provided a vital check on the current administration and consolidated support for his 2027 presidential bid.
He revealed that many who supported Obi in the last general election now perceive him as a “weak man” who may lack the necessary boldness to lead the country effectively.
In conclusion, Okonma urged Nigerians to remain steadfast, expressing optimism that the country would rebound and reclaim its lost glory as the “giant of Africa.”
