Yesterday, August 23, 2025, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in collaboration with the Noble Hope Foundation, organized an International Youth Day celebration in Owa Onyibu, Delta State, Nigeria.

The event, attended by youth from all local government areas in Delta North, focused on urging them to equip themselves with the skills and technology needed to succeed in today’s world.

Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of moving beyond traditional theoretical knowledge and embracing practical, technological skills as a cornerstone for success.

They stressed that digital literacy is a powerful tool, providing access to education, information, and entrepreneurial opportunities.

It was noted that practical knowledge of skill acquisition and technology is the best way for young people to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Ambassador Ogagaoghene Ogheneyole, one of the speakers, encouraged the youth to embrace this year’s International Youth Day theme, urging them to actively pursue technology and skill acquisition.

He described the modern world as a “digital global village,” emphasizing that youth must keep pace with rapid change to avoid being left behind.

Barrister Eugene Azuka Uzum praised the initiative, calling Niger Delta youth “critical drivers of sustainable development” and urging them to embrace technology to remain globally competitive.

Mrs. Josephine Jerele, an Assistant Director at the NDDC, explained that the event’s focus was to promote cooperation through technology and partnerships. She reiterated the importance of acquiring the necessary knowledge to succeed in the global market.

Chief Godwin Ogadi, an APC stalwart, also addressed the crowd, encouraging them to apply the knowledge gained from the program to their daily lives and praising the NDDC for its efforts in empowering young people for a better future.
