In a strategic political move, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Council, Hon. Jerry Ehiwario, has reportedly secured all billboard spaces across Ikaland, effectively blocking publicity efforts for an upcoming mass defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Delta Integrity Group (DUG), an affiliate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to reliable sources, Hon. Ehiwario preemptively paid for all available billboard slots in the area, allegedly to prevent the advertisement of a major defection event scheduled for April 12, 2025.
This development comes amid growing defections from the PDP in the Ika axis, following the appointment of NDDC Chairman, Barr. Chiedu Ebie, who leads the DUG. The party has been gaining momentum with the defection of high-profile figures, including Mr. Ogadi Godwin.
In recent days, even more prominent individuals have reportedly joined the DUG. They include Ambassador Jude Ugbekile, Uzum Azuka, Chris Ogala, Anointed Ogala, Mr. Friday Orubor, Mr. Jude Uwadia, Mr. Henry Uzum, Mr. Ichie Million, Davison Okafor, Mr. Alfred Idehen, Coach Lucky Sunday, and Nosegbe Cy.
The defection ceremony which is scheduled to hold at the former Bendel Hotel in Agbor, Ika South, is further intensifying the political tension in the area.
Efforts by this medium to obtain Hon. Ehiwario’s reaction were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or text messages at the time of filing this report.
