Deltans Criticise DESOPADEC Commissioner’s For Listing”Classroom Desk” As Achievement Amidst ₦36 Billion Budget

Serious concerns are mounting over the performance of Hon. Cordilia Onyia, the Delta State DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Ika Federal Constituency.

Despite overseeing a staggering estimated budget of ₦36 Billion over the last three years, her primary claim to achievement—the provision of classroom desks—is being met with public ridicule and skepticism.

Since her inauguration three years ago, Hon. Onyia’s tenure has been characterized by what critics describe as a “project drought.”

While constituents expected transformative infrastructure and human capital development, the Commissioner has reportedly struggled to point to any significant milestones beyond a handful of school furniture.

The disparity between the massive budgetary allocations and the visible reality on the ground has led many to question the transparency and efficiency of her office.

Despite the growing dissatisfaction, reports filtered to our news desk suggest that Hon. Onyia is already positioning herself for a higher office.

Sources indicate she is “warming up” to contest for the Ika Federal Constituency seat in 2027.

While her primary allegiance remains with the All Progressives Congress (APC), political observers note that the African Democratic Party (ADC) structure is being quietly activated as a “Plan B.”

This suggests a strategic move to secure a ticket elsewhere should she face a brick wall within the APC.

Recall that there is a growing sentiment among the people of Abavo and Agbor: Can a representative who failed to deliver with a multi-billion naira commission budget be trusted with a seat in the Green Chamber?

”The people are more enlightened now,” a local source stated. “We saw how the Labour Party disrupted the status quo in the last election.

If the ADC forms a formidable alliance, it could pose a serious threat to underperforming incumbents.”

Whether the electorate will overlook three years of “minimalist achievements” in favor of her 2027 aspirations remains the ultimate question.
