Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed concern over the current state of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, acknowledging signs of internal challenges urging party leaders and stakeholders to collaboratively strategize a path forward.
Okowa made this call during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Ika North East Party Secretariat in Owa Onyibu, the Local Government headquarters
He emphasized the need to understand the root causes behind the recent wave of defections rocking the party, stating was the reason for meeting
The immediate past Governor, while speaking implored attendees to contribute their insights into the factors contributing to these departures and to collectively formulate strategies to maintain the party’s relevance and strength.
Though this platform has not yet unraveled if the reason for the defection was unconnected to the inability of some party members to secure appointments from the state government but facts emerging has proved that the mass defection worries party stakeholders and the leadership
Our investigation has revealed that there is a palpable sense of unease among party members regarding the ongoing defections.
Though, Several members who confided to our reporters, confirmed the leadership’s growing apprehension
