Hon. Marilyn Okowa Daramola, the Delta State House of Assembly Member, representing the people of Ika North East Constituency, has empowered about 400 women drawn from the 14 wards of her Constituency with cash to boost their Businesses.
Marilyn who doubles as the Chairman House Committee on finance and appreciation during the event which was held yesterday, the 9th of february 2024, at Efeizomor street, Boji Boji Owa, Delta State of Nigeria noted that the empowerment program was her way of helping to cushion the effect of the economic hardship levitating the country
She emphasized that, the outreach program which was tagged, invest in women, accelerate progress and inspire inclusion, which she noted was unconnected to her passion of placing her people first in all her political, social and economic agenda
While making her emphasis on the need to empower women, the tenacious legislative maestro disclosed that women empowerment was panacea to the development of any economy, maintaining that it enhances their socioeconomic status, through creating an economic culture that would in turn address economic deficit of the home
Continuing, Hon. Marilyn added that women and youth empowerment was a prerequisite for sustainable development of any country, noting was not just their rights and social justice, but reduces poverty, and strengthens economic growth and development
She appreciated party leaders and stakeholders for helping in achieving the needed feat to ameliorate the pains orchestrated by the subsidy removal and economic hardship
Speaking on her recent bill, Hon. Marilyn Okowa Daramola revealed that the bill which prohibits the discrimination against people living with disabilities was already gathering momentum, stating that it may be passed by next week
” I decided to celebrate the international women’s day by doing this outreach program across my Constituency. Tagged: Invest in Women, Accelerate progress and inspire inclusion to help them boost their Businesses and add to their economic contributions of their homes.”
Speaking also was the wife of the immediate past Governor,Dame Edith Okowa, who appreciated Marilyn for her magnanimity and steadfastness in making sure that women feel the pulse of her representation while noting that, the money was to help boost their businesses and reduce the pain of the current hardship
