DELTA DECIDES, a respected media outfit dedicated to empowering marginalized voices through media reportage and promoting human rights in Delta State and Nigeria, has extended its condolences to the family of Late Steve Ashien, publisher of Ika Weekly.
The condolence message, signed by the State Coordinator, Mr. Darlington Okonma, was issued today, May 23, 2025.
Mr. Okonma described Ashien as a “man of integrity” driven by a passion to impact society through his newspaper outfit, Ika Weekly.
Also speaking was Mr. Egbonimali Shadrack, Chairman of DELTA DECIDES and CEO of Stegma Travelling Agency, also praised Ashien’s “strong character credentials,” lamenting his death at a time when his contributions were most needed.
“We are pained to hear of the death of our media mentor who has made an impact in the lives of many media organizations, including DELTA DECIDES,” Shadrack stated.
He offered prayers for Ashien’s soul and urged well-meaning Ika sons and daughters to support his family, particularly his wife, who has shown remarkable strength during this difficult period.
“We share in the grief of his family and are calling on our Ika brothers and sisters to support the family, especially his wife, in these trying times,” he added.
