DELTA DECIDES Lauds President Tinubu as ‘Legend of Democracy’ on June 12

ASABA, Delta State – As Nigerians across the country commemorate Democracy Day, DELTA DECIDES, a prominent media advocacy platform has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, bestowing upon him the title of “Legend of Democracy.”

Speaking during a media interaction in Asaba on June 12, 2025, Comrade Darlington Okonma, Coordinator of DELTA DECIDES and Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ika Chapel, highlighted President Tinubu’s enduring contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey.

Okonma described Tinubu as a key architect of Nigeria’s democratic evolution, citing his leadership, sacrifices, and resilience during the country’s pro-democracy struggles.

He placed Tinubu in the same league as revered icons like Femi Falana and Professor Wole Soyinka, noting that their collective advocacy laid the foundation for the civil liberties Nigerians enjoy today.

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Egbonimali Shadrack, Chairman and Founder of DELTA DECIDES and CEO of Stegma Travelling Agency, Asaba, commended the President for his bold leadership, citing monetary policy and other critical reforms as a case in point, noting were already yielding tangible and setting Nigeria on a path toward long-term stability.

“June 12 is more than a date,” Shadrack remarked. “It’s a moment for national reflection — a time to honour those who stood firm for democracy and to celebrate the progress we’ve made.”

Synchronizing their views, Amb. Ushi Israel who is the founder of Africa Youths Inclusion and a Diaspora Ambassador added his voice to the chorus of commendation, describing President Tinubu’s leadership as exemplary and worthy of emulation.

He stressed that Democracy Day should serve not only as a celebration but also as a reminder of the values and sacrifices that underpin Nigeria’s democratic system.

“I use this opportunity to wish all Nigerians a Happy Democracy Day,” Ambassador Israel concluded. “May we continue to grow stronger as we journey together toward a better Nigeria.”
