AKUMAZI — The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently embroiled in a leadership tussle following the indefinite suspension of the Commissioner for Works over allegations of illegal Party activities and constitutional breaches.
The internal rift gained viral traction on social media after an official communiqué, bearing the party’s letterhead and the signatures of the Ward Executive members was leaked online
It was gathered that Aniagwu was suspended for an Alleged “House-Party” Consensus
The friction reportedly stems from a controversial consensus meeting convened three days ago by Mr. Charles Aniagwu at his private residence in Akumazi, Ika North East LGA.
Sources indicate that Mr. Aniagwu allegedly bypassed established protocols to organize a new slate of ward executives to lead the party for the upcoming tenure.
According to insiders close to the matter, the “Old Guard” of the party moved for disciplinary action after discovering they had been systematically sidelined and was uninformed for the consensus that took place at Aniagwu Private Residence
This platform was hinted that, Mr. Chukwuka Ojinji, the current ward 7 chairman was reportedly excluded from the process.
A source in the APC disclosed that the APC Constitution emphasised that the Chairman must preside over such transitions, and the resulting list must be formally transmitted through the LGA and Senatorial hierarchies before reaching State and National levels.
He noted that, in this case, the old PDP wanted to hijack the process just as he reiterated was against their constitution
carrying opinion randomly, some party loyalists have characterized the move as an attempt to create a “New APC” faction, a move viewed by the executive members as a threat to party unity.
Efforts to reach Mr. Charles Aniagwu by our correspondents regarding his side of the story were unsuccessful, as he remained unavailable for an interview.
