The Dein of Agbor, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi I, has issued a firm directive prohibiting the collection of fees from individuals in relation to land matters, particularly those tied to development within the kingdom.

Delivering his address at the Agbor Unity Celebration held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Ime-Obi Agbor Community Hall, the revered monarch made it clear that the Palace neither authorises nor engages in such practices.

“At no point should anyone collect money from people in relation to land matters as regards development. The Palace does not authorise or engage in such practices, and therefore no individual or group is permitted to do so on its behalf,” he declared.

The Dein emphasised that the practice had long been outlawed by the state government, noting that it was prohibited during the administration of Ifeanyi Okowa and remains in force under the current government led by Sheriff Oborevwori.

He warned that such illegal charges discourage investors and hinder development within the community, urging residents to seek legitimate and honourable means of livelihood instead.

Speaking further, the Dein of Agbor called for unity among the people, stressing the importance of collective effort in advancing the kingdom.

“We must support one another, uplift each other, and work together for the collective progress of our people. Agbor is a kingdom with over 2,000 years of heritage. While we have come a long way, there is still much more to achieve,” he said.

As the political season approaches, the monarch cautioned against divisive tendencies, advising that politics should not be treated as a do-or-die affair but rather approached with dialogue, understanding, and consensus.

He urged political stakeholders to organise themselves, consult widely, and present a united front.

“Our strength lies in our unity. When you present one candidate and stand firmly behind that individual, success becomes achievable,” he added.

The Agbor Unity Celebration brought together community leaders and stakeholders, reinforcing the message of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development within the kingdom.
