A new political coalition, reportedly formed by prominent figures aggrieved with the current administration, is facing internal strife as the presidential ambitions of Rotimi Amaechi and Peter Obi appear to be on a collision course.

This emerging “formidable force” is widely understood to be positioning itself to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential election.

Both Amaechi and Obi were key players in the last general election. Peter Obi was the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, while Rotimi Amaechi was a presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner in the 2023 general election.

This platform were able to gather that the two Political heavyweights were members of this new coalition party, which also reportedly includes Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election.

Recent interviews suggest that Rotimi Amaechi is keen on contesting the 2027 presidential election, signaling Party members his intention to run for a single term if elected as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the new coalition’s platform.

Similarly, it has been gathered that Peter Obi has also proposed serving only one term if he were to be elected president under the same Political Party

This apparent clash of interests, with both Amaechi and Obi seemingly eyeing the presidential ticket and proposing similar single-term mandates, hints at potential discord within the nascent coalition.
