Civil Rights Council Condemns Palm Sunday Massacre in Jos

​Asaba, Delta State – The Civil Rights Council of Nigeria (Asaba Unit) has issued a stern condemnation of the recent mass killings in the Rukuba community of Jos, Plateau State.

The attack, carried out by bandits on Palm Sunday, has left the nation in mourning and sparked renewed calls for governmental accountability.

​During a press conference held in Asaba, the Unit Chairperson Comrade Joy Edibigne aka small pepper,expressed deep concern over the escalating violence, emphasizing that the primary responsibility of any government was the protection of lives and property—a duty she suggests is currently being neglected.

​”The Federal Government must be more proactive in dispelling these heinous crimes that continue to decimate innocent residents across Northern Nigeria,” Edigbine stated.

​The Council highlighted several critical points regarding the current security climate, emphasing that the government has consistently fallen short of its promises to secure the nation.

​She urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to “look deep” into the root causes of these continuous killings and provide a definitive solution.

​While demanding state protection, the Council also urged Nigerian citizens to remain highly vigilant in their daily lives, stating was the only veritable way of protecting their lives and building the needed resistance to dispel this continuous attacks

​In an effort to move beyond rhetoric, Comrade Edigbine announced that the Civil Rights Council was prepared to take active steps in the aftermath of the Jos tragedy.

​She emphasized that the Council was ready to partner with relevant NGOs to provide humanitarian aid and mitigate the devastating effects of the mayhem caused by these criminal elements.

​” Demand the Federal Government to “sit up” and fulfill its constitutional mandate to ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
