The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially welcomed the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Umo Eno, into its ranks, marking a significant political development in the South-South region.
The announcement was made today, June 6, 2025, through a press statement issued by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, Esq.
The statement reads in part:
“The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON, is delighted with the decision of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Umo Eno, to join our great party.”
The party expressed optimism that Governor Eno’s defection will pave the way for accelerated development in Akwa Ibom State and further strengthen the APC’s influence in the region.
“We are confident that his thoughtful decision will ensure the greater progress of Akwa Ibom State and its people,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to inclusive politics, the APC assured Governor Eno of full cooperation and integration into the party structure.
“Our great party assures the Governor of its fullest cooperation and accommodation within the APC family, as we continue to grow the party and work together towards the full realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the good and benefit of all Nigerians.”
“Governor Eno’s defection is expected to reshape the political landscape in Akwa Ibom and could trigger further realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
