Abuja, Nigeria – July 3, 2025 – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing critique against the newly unveiled African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, describing its launch on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, as a “gasping whimper” rather than the “roar” its proponents had promised.

In a statement signed by Barrister Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, the ruling party dismissed the ADC as a “coalition of hoaxers and self-obsessed merchants of vendetta.” Morka disclosed that the coalition comprised “Nigeria’s me-or-nothing politicians, who equate their selfish interest with the interest of Nigerians,” and accused them of being “desperate to grab power for themselves by guile and subterfuge.”

Morka particularly targeted the inaugural speech delivered by Senator David Mark, identified as the alleged National Chairman of ADC. The APC spokesperson characterized the speech as “disgracefully vacant, without substance or purpose,” claiming it was “nothing but stitches of untruths, diatribe, and regurgitated and baseless allegations against the APC-led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

According to Morka, Senator Mark’s address failed to articulate the coalition’s purpose beyond a “loud declaration of desperation for power,” questioning the value the coalition would bring to Nigerians. He challenged the ADC to present alternative policy approaches to the current administration’s economic and sectoral reforms, and to define its philosophical or ideological leaning beyond a “desperation for power at all cost.” Morka contended that the silence on these questions indicated that Senator Mark and his partners were “disgracefully clueless, without a care or concern about Nigeria and Nigerians.”

The APC official stated that Nigerians are “highly perceptive and discerning and will not be taken in by the coalition’s grand folly.” He then proceeded to highlight what he described as “massive structural transformation” under President Tinubu’s administration, citing a range of achievements:

GDP growth rate of 3.4%.

External reserves increasing from $4 billion in 2023 to over $24 billion in 2024.

Cleared backlog of forex debt and CBN ways and means.

Debt service-to-revenue ratio reduced from approximately 99% to 40%.

Initial reform-induced inflation spike of 31% in 2024 now “tampered to 22% in 2025 and still declining.”

Rapidly declining prices of basic commodities and increased farmer earnings.

All-time high oil exports and unprecedented quarter-on-quarter trade surpluses.

Vast stability in the foreign exchange market.

Vastly increased revenue allocation for states and local governments.

Unprecedented access to student loans and stable academic calendars free from strike disruptions.

Massive uptake in the delivery of modern road and other transport infrastructure.

Thousands of healthcare facilities built, revamped, and upgraded.

A “determined war on terror and banditry” yielding the neutralization and arrests of nearly 40,000 fighters.

Notable achievements in power, interior, and aviation sectors.

Implementation of a new minimum wage and significant impact of various social investment programs.

Morka further stressed that the opposition elements would “stop at nothing to denigrate the success and transformative impact of reform policies for their own base interests.” He affirmed that while “coalition members remain preoccupied swimming in mud and throwing bricks,” the APC and President Tinubu “remain undisturbed and focused on using all available bricks to building a stronger, enduring and more prosperous nation for this and future generations of Nigerians.”
