The Accord Party in Ika Federal Constituency is showing signs of renewed activity, prompting speculation about potential connections to recent defections from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC,.

This resurgence suggests a possible reconfiguration of the political landscape in Delta State as various actors position themselves for future elections.

Historically, the Accord Party has provided a platform for disaffected PDP members within the Ika Federal Constituency, offering an alternative path when they fail to secure their party’s nomination.

Notable examples include Hon. Chukwuyem Okoh, also known as Chucky Dandy, the current representative of Ika South in the Delta State House of Assembly, who won his seat on the Accord Party ticket after losing the PDP primary to Hon. Isaac Ulebor.

Similarly, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, representing Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and Hon. Buzugbe, former Chairman of Ika North Local Government Area, also achieved electoral victories through the Accord Party.

However, these individuals subsequently rejoined the PDP after securing their electoral goals. This pattern raises questions about the Accord Party’s long-term viability and its potential role as a temporary political vehicle by some political actors to achieve their political goals

The recent preliminary meeting has fueled speculation about the involvement of former PDP figures, known for utilizing alternative routes to achieve their political ambitions.

This early activity suggests preparations for the 2027 elections and indicates a potential increase in the Accord Party’s significance as an alternative force to hold on to power
