Delta Monarch Threatens Court Action Against Lawyer Over Libel

The Immediate Past Chairman, Delta State Traditional Rulers Council and the Obi of Owa, His Majesty, Obi Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor 11 has threatened legal action against one Mr. Ifeanyi Williams Agholor over libelous comments.

The octogenarian monarch, who is also the Chairman of Delta North Traditional Rulers Forum, said the comments of Mr. Ifeanyi Williams Agholor, a Delta based legal practitioner, on his person, constituted libel.

He said, the comments which were aired on social media platforms was not only false but a calculated attempt to lower his enviable reputation and denigrate his personality in the estimation of the right thinking members of the public.

Delta Speaker, Guwor escapes death, 5 die in boat mishap

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, is deeply saddened by the tragic boat mishap that occurred over the weekend along Bennett Island River in Warri South-west local government area of Delta State, in which he was involved but miraculously survived.

Unfortunately, five precious lives were lost in the incident.

Mr Speaker was returning to Asaba, enroute Warri after engagement with constituents on the faithful Friday afternoon, November 22, 2024, when the boat he was being ferried almost had a head-on collision with another, resulting to the death of five persons and several others injured.

The Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Majesty, King Monday Arthur Whiskey, Udurhie I, has called on President Bola Tinubu to confer a National Honour on High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a Tompolo, Chairman of Tantita Security Services Limited.

The monarch made the call, on Sunday, while addressing newsmen at his palace in Idjerhe, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to the monarch, Tompolo’s efforts have been instrumental in the attainment of 1.8 million barrel per day recently declared by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Ika Indigenes Laud Okowa’s Contributions To Delta Devt

The Ika people of Delta State have lauded the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for the unprecedented human and infrastructural development recorded in the state during his eight-year administration.

The delegation under the auspices of Onu Ika Nigeria, a socio-cultural organization, made the commendation during a solidarity visit to the former governor at his Asaba residence on Thursday.

JUST IN: Finland Police Nabs Biafra Leader, Ekpa, Four Others Over Terrorist Propaganda

Simon Ekpa, self acclaimed leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been arrested by law enforcement in Finland.

The BBC reports that Ekpa was subsequently sent to prison by the district court of Päijät-Häme for “spreading terrorist propaganda on social media”.

Ekpa was said to have committed the crime in 2021 in Lahti municipality.

The Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) also arrested four other men over alleged terrorist offences.

NSF: Why we ‘ll not host zonal eliminations – Ohwojero

The Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Festus Ohwojero says the State would not host the South-South Zonal Eliminations for the 2025 National Sports Festival.

Mr Ohwojero said the State recently hosted the 7th National Youth Games and in the course of hosting it had scuttled the academic calendar of some schools in the state capital because their facilitiea were used for accommodation.

According to him, the state government would not want to stretch the academic calendars of these schools as they were already in session and asking them to go on another recess for a week would be hurtful to the schools and their students.

Tompolo Accuses Navy Of Sabotaging Efforts Of Securing Oil Pipelines In Niger Delta

Oporoza – Nigerian Navy has been accused of undermining concerted efforts of the Federal Government to combat crude oil theft in the country.

Speaking in Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom of Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State while playing host to the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) led by Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe(SAN), it’s national President, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo said that some elements in the Navy are working against the order of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to increase crude oil production.

Ecomiums have been pouring in for Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and a private security outfit, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) as the nation’s crude oil production hit 1.8 millions barrels per day (1.8m bpd)

The board and management of NNPCL, which announced the feat on Thursday, also disclosed that gas production has also risen to 7.4 billion standard cubic feet per day (7.4bscfd).
